Mike is a bigger receiver though, and those guys usually don’t last as long. However, it does seem attainable if injuries or age don’t completely derail him too early. Remember, Mike turns 30 in August, so there is no guarantee he even plays 5 more years. If he has good longevity, he could hit those numbers over the next 5 years with mediocre production. That’s at least another 3 years of good production. Mike will need to do that in order to get serious consideration. The modern WRs who are making (or going to make) the HoF are usually breaking 1k receptions and 13k yards. A ton of the guys never even won one (Moss, Fitz, and T.O. Mike’s four Pro Bowls is a good start, but he will need at least two more to be comparable to other modern HoF WRs. Competition for AP at WR is notoriously tough. While he does not have any 1st team All Pros, there are other HoF WRs that have none (Tim Brown, Isaac Bruce). All of this, and he is still 29 years old. Unbelievable, those are the ONLY two WRs with more than Mike’s 9 seasons of 1k yards OVER AN ENTIRE CAREER. More perspective - The most non-consecutive 1k seasons over an entire career is also Rice with 14 seasons. Second most is just Tim Brown and Mike Evans with 9. To add perspective, the most consecutive 1k seasons at any point in a career is Jerry Rice with 11. Second, Mike’s unique stat of 9 straight seasons (and counting) of 1k yards to start a career is a nice feather in his cap. I think he could easily hit 100 TDs, which would look amazing to HoF voters and make him tied for 7th all time. If he hits 90 TDs, he will be top 10 all time. Mike has two huge things going for him right now:įirst, his 81 TDs are insane for someone his age. All that said, Mike is still playing and stacking stats. I doubt any of them make it into the HoF, which shows just how tough it is for WRs right now. Driver is the only one who was even nominated last year, and he did not even make it to the semi finalist list. While I think all three of those guys get in eventually, there is clearly a logjam at WR and it’ll only get worse with people like Fitz and Julio in the future.Īs of now, Mike’s stats are comparable to guys like KeyShawn Johnson, Donald Driver, Keenan McCardell, and Joey Galloway. Reggie Wayne - HoF finalist the last three yearsĤ straight and 8 total 1k seasons. Torry Holt - HoF finalist the last four years Read further to see the results.Ĭompared to the following who are not in the HoF (yet): So here I am again with an update and more analysis. Last offseason, I did some research on Mike Evans’ stats and compared them to Hall of Fame WRs.
